SPURS CHASE SHAW

Tottenham Hotspur might place a bid for the 18 years Old Southampton defender Luke Shaw during the mid-season transfer window.

The Portuguese international Fabio Coentrao is still the first priority for the Spurs, but, if they fail to land him at White Hart Lane, then, they might go for Shaw.

Tottenham had tried to buy Coentrao during the pre-season transfer window as well, but, they hadn’t succeeded.

Shaw has impressed everyone while playing for Southampton in the ongoing season and he is reported to be wanted by quite a few top English clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur is currently at no. 7 in the league points table with 20 points in 11 matches. Points wise, they are in a decent position because they are just 5 points behind Arsenal which is at the top of the table, but, the way they have played in their recent games, it’s clear that they are lacking a quality left-back.

Southampton would not let Shaw go at a transfer fee of less than 10 million Pounds; that’s for sure. The teenager has performed so well for them this season and he is the main reason why they are placed at no. 3 in the points table at the moment.

Tottenham likes to buy players like Shaw who are in the earlier stages of their career and promise a good resale value.

The last time that Tottenham had bought a player from Southampton was 6 years back in 2007. The name of that player was Gareth Bale and he had cost the Spurs just 10 million Pounds at that time. And, when they sold him to Real Madrid during this pre-season transfer window, they got 86 million Pounds. They can expect something like this from Shaw too because this young player will only improve from here.
