RAISING THE TENSIONS

Tottenham will be facing Manchester City in a crunch match at the White Hart Lane during the weekend and former City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has raised the tensions ahead of the match by saying that the City players will start fighting within themselves if things do not go their way at the start. Adebayor was a £ 25 million signing from City a few years ago, but he soon fell out with manager Roberto Mancini. It has resulted in him departing to Tottenham in a £ 5 million deal on a permanent basis after a season on loan at the London club.

After his permanent move, Adebayor has not been a first-team regulars at Tottenham as manager Andre Villas-Boas has regularly preferred Jermain Defoe to the Togo international. Adebayor is expected to come off the bench to face against his former employers. He has said that Tottenham are the favourites to secure a victory from the match. He has said that the City players do not have any team spirit within themselves. They are likely to start fighting within themselves if things do not go their way initially.

Tottenham do need to win this encounter in order to stay in touch with Arsenal and Chelsea. City, meanwhile, have nothing to play for the remainder of the league season.

“If we put them under pressure we have a chance to win for sure because I was there and whenever things are not going their way there will definitely be a fight or an argument on the pitch and that is how we can take them down. We saw them having a tough time at Everton so it’s true that they are not strong away. They beat Manchester United so their confidence is very high, but we have a great squad and great players,” said Adebayor.
