The manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Andre Villas Boas, has made it clear again that the Welsh forward Gareth Bale is going to stay at White Hart Lane.
There had been some reports in the last few days that Real Madrid is ready to pay Tottenham a world record transfer fee of 105 million Pounds for Bale and the two clubs are close to reaching an agreement.
But, Villas Boas has denied that. According to the Tottenham manager, the officials of the two clubs had definitely met, but, that meeting was not held for discussing the deal. In that meeting, the officials of Real Madrid were clearly told that Bale hasn’t been put on sale.
Talking to the reporters, Villas Boas said, “There have been a lot of rumours about Gareth moving to Real Madrid. I want to make it clear that there is nothing like that. Gareth is not going anywhere.”
“Yes, we did have a meeting with Real Madrid, but, that was only to tell them that we are not planning to sell Gareth.”
A few days ago, the Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti had publicly said that Bale is on Madrid’s radar and the talks have been going on between the two clubs regarding the deal.
Villa Boas didn’t seem to be happy with that statement of Ancelotti. The Spurs boss said, “I respect Carlo a lot. He is a great coach and a fantastic guy. But, in this case, I don’t think he was right. He probably shouldn’t have gone public with that.”
Bale has been playing for Tottenham since the last 6 years. He has made more than 200 appearances for the club so far. The last season was his most successful one at White Hart Lane as he scored 21 Premier League goals.
