The Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor is definitely happy at the club according to the manager Andre Villas-Boas. The 28-year-old has largely featured in the first team for Tottenham this season. He had arrived at the club on a permanent basis only in the summer for around £ 5 million from Manchester city. His astronomical wages are heavily subsidised by the Premier league champions. He finished as the top scorer at Tottenham last season with 18 goals in the Premier league alone. However, he has been used as a substitute by the manager Andre Villas-Boas.
It is not surprising to know that the Portuguese manager has retained the 4-2-3-1 formation that has been his favourite since his days at Porto. Rather than use of the target man in front, Andre Villas-Boas has kept his faith in the small Jermain Defoe up front. This has paid a lot of dividends in recent weeks after the club are currently closer to the Champions league positions. It has been rumoured that the Togo international is not happy with the club due to his lack of playing time. It is expected that Emmanuel Adebayor will start the match when Tottenham visit Southampton during the weekend. Jermain Defoe is expected to be on the bench for this match.
“Is he happy? I think so. He was massively happy last year at Tottenham. Right now things are going excellently for Jermain Defoe, so it’s difficult for Ade who did so well last season. But a player of his dimension is always threatening to come in, so I’d say he’s pretty happy. Adebayor has a pain in his back that he’s had for quite some time. He had it last season too. He felt it in training after the Chelsea game so he hasn’t travelled with the team,” said the Tottenham manager.
